About the Job
We are seeking a dedicated EHS Specialist to join our team at the YHM5 Fulfillment Center in Brampton, ON. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating and implementing all aspects of Amazon’s Global Safety Program as directed by leadership.
You will promote a positive safety culture while ensuring compliance with Amazon standards and maintaining a safe work environment. This includes conducting training sessions and coaching associates on observed work habits.
Key Responsibilities for the EHS Specialist
Your responsibilities will encompass a variety of tasks aimed at ensuring the safety and well-being of our associates.
- Maintain accurate daily, weekly, and monthly metrics to report to onsite management teams and corporate-based reporting systems.
- Support management efforts to ensure compliance with all corporate program expectations and applicable federal and provincial laws.
- Conduct risk assessments related to jobs performed (Job Hazard Analysis) and new equipment introductions.
- Recommend appropriate risk mitigation measures to management, including ergonomics.
- Conduct training sessions and coach associates on observed work habits to promote a positive safety culture.
- Available to work flexible shifts, including days, nights, and/or weekends.
Minimum Qualifications for the EHS Specialist
To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:
- 1+ years of experience in a workplace health & safety (WHS) related field.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience using Microsoft Word in a professional capacity.
- Experience maintaining confidentiality in matters involving security or personnel issues in the workplace.
- Knowledge of Canadian Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Provincial Laws.
- Must obtain the required appropriate level of provincial First Aid, CPR, and AED certification within 3 weeks of start date.
Preferred Qualifications for the EHS Specialist
While not mandatory, the following qualifications are advantageous:
- Experience in emergency response.
- Experience in worker’s compensation case management.
