In this role, you will help develop and execute government affairs advocacy objectives and political priorities for Amazon on federal and provincial policy issues in Canada. Your efforts will contribute to shaping public policy in ways that benefit our customers and support our business objectives.
About the Job
As a Manager, Public Policy, you will create and execute government affairs strategies to engage with government agencies and legislatures on specific policy issues. You will educate key officials and their staff on priority policy matters, coordinate advocacy work with third parties, and ensure alignment between business priorities and public policy goals.
Key Responsibilities for the Manager, Public Policy
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and executing government affairs strategies at federal and provincial levels.
- Educating government officials and their staff on Amazon’s priority policy issues.
- Coordinating advocacy efforts with third parties, including trade associations and consultants.
- Collaborating with internal teams to align business priorities with public policy goals.
- Assessing and communicating potential government activities to the business, developing mitigation or enhancement strategies.
- Coordinating external advocacy efforts and outreach programs in line with business objectives.
Minimum Qualifications for the Manager, Public Policy
To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- At least 8 years of relevant public policy experience, with a strong understanding of federal policy issues and government relations strategies.
- Fluency in French and English, both written and oral.
- Willingness and ability to travel as required.
Preferred Qualifications for the Manager, Public Policy
While not mandatory, the following qualifications are advantageous:
- Law Degree or Master’s Degree in a related field.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing complex regulatory and political issues.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience delivering clear and concise messaging.
- Ability to understand technical aspects of corporate operations, assess business implications, and recommend appropriate courses of action.
- Experience interacting effectively at high levels within corporate, legislative, regulatory, and government environments.
- Commitment to maintaining the highest levels of ethical conduct, confidentiality, and integrity.
