Sobeys Inc., a proudly Canadian company, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Copywriter to join our Creative Marketing team at the Sobeys Innovation Hub in Toronto, Ontario.
In this role, you will be responsible for creating clear, compelling, and engaging content that effectively communicates the brand’s message across various platforms. You will work closely with the creative team to ensure that all content aligns with the brand’s voice and drives engagement.
About the Job
The Copywriter is responsible for developing persuasive and engaging copy for a variety of mediums, including websites, email campaigns, social media posts, advertisements, brochures, and other marketing materials.
This role involves collaborating with the creative team to brainstorm and develop creative concepts and messaging strategies that align with project goals and brand objectives. The Copywriter ensures all copy is consistent with the brand’s voice, tone, and style guidelines, maintaining a coherent brand message across all content and communication channels.
Key Responsibilities for the Copywriter
As the Copywriter, you will oversee various aspects of department management. Your responsibilities include:
- Content Creation: Write and edit persuasive and engaging copy for various mediums, including websites, email campaigns, social media posts, advertisements, brochures, and other marketing materials.
- Collaboration: Work closely with designers, marketers, and other team members to ensure that copy complements visual elements and aligns with overall campaign objectives.
- Brand Consistency: Ensure all copy is consistent with the brand’s voice, tone, and style guidelines. Maintain a coherent brand message across all content and communication channels.
- Research: Conduct research to understand target audiences, market trends, and industry best practices. Use insights to craft relevant and impactful messaging.
- Editing and Proofreading: Review and proofread copy to ensure accuracy, clarity, and grammatical correctness. Edit content as needed to enhance readability and effectiveness.
- Feedback Integration: Accept and incorporate feedback from senior team members, clients, or stakeholders to refine and improve copy.
Minimum Qualifications for the Copywriter
To be successful in this role, candidates must have:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Marketing, Communications, or a related field. Additional certifications in copywriting or related areas are a plus.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in copywriting or a related role. Previous experience in a marketing or advertising environment is a plus.
- Portfolio: Strong portfolio showcasing a variety of writing styles and formats, including digital and print content.
Preferred Qualifications for the Copywriter
While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:
- Digital Marketing Knowledge: Familiarity with SEO best practices and experience writing for digital platforms.
- Creative Thinking: Ability to develop innovative and original ideas that resonate with target audiences.
- Time Management: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
