Sobeys Inc., a proudly Canadian company, is seeking a talented and creative Animator to join our Creative Studio Marketing team at the Sobeys Innovation Hub in Toronto, Ontario.
In this full-time role, you will be responsible for creating dynamic and engaging animations that bring characters, scenes, and stories to life. This position involves working closely with the creative team to develop animation concepts, produce high-quality animation sequences, and ensure that all animations align with the project’s vision and objectives.
About the Job
As an Animator, you will utilize your artistic skills and technical expertise to contribute to various types of animation projects, including digital media, film, and advertising.
Your role will involve developing and producing animations for various media, including digital platforms, in-store digital displays, online videos, and advertising. You will create compelling characters, movements, and visual effects that enhance storytelling and engage audiences.
Key Responsibilities for the Animator
As the Animator, you will oversee various aspects of department management. Your responsibilities include:
- Animation Development: Develop and produce animations for various media, including digital platforms, in-store digital displays, online videos, and advertising.
- Concept Collaboration: Collaborate with the creative team to brainstorm and develop animation concepts and storyboards.
- Software Utilization: Utilize animation software (e.g., Adobe After Effects) to create and refine animations, ensuring they are technically accurate and meet quality standards.
- Integration: Work closely with directors, designers, and other team members to ensure that animations integrate seamlessly with other elements of the project, such as sound, voiceovers, and visual effects.
- Feedback Incorporation: Accept and incorporate feedback from supervisors and stakeholders to refine and improve animations, ensuring final animations meet project requirements.
- Asset Management: Maintain organized files and assets related to animation projects, ensuring all animation work is documented and stored according to project specifications.
- Industry Awareness: Stay updated on industry trends, new techniques, and emerging technologies in animation, applying new knowledge and skills to enhance the quality and creativity of animations.
Minimum Qualifications for the Animator
To be successful in this role, candidates must have:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Animation, Graphic Design, Fine Arts, or a related field. Additional training or certifications in animation techniques or software are a plus.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in animation, with a strong portfolio showcasing a range of animation styles and techniques. Experience with both 2D and 3D animation is a plus.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in animation software such as Adobe After Effects or similar tools. Strong understanding of animation principles, including timing, movement, and storytelling. Experience working with AI is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications for the Animator
While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:
- Advanced Skills: Experience with both 2D and 3D animation techniques.
- Software Expertise: Familiarity with other animation tools such as Blender, Maya, or Cinema 4D.
- AI Integration: Experience using AI tools to enhance animation workflows.
- Creative Innovation: Proven ability to conceptualize and deliver innovative animation projects.
- Time Management: Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
