About the Job
As a Cashier Assistant at Costco, you will play a vital role in maintaining efficient front-end operations. Your primary responsibilities include packing member orders into boxes, transferring items for cashiers, and performing tasks such as cart retrieval and merchandise restocking. Your dedication to member service and attention to detail will enhance the overall shopping experience.
You will also be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the register area and assisting in various promotions. This role requires a proactive approach to ensure that operations run smoothly and that members receive prompt and courteous service.
Key Responsibilities for the Cashier Assistant
Your tasks will focus on delivering outstanding member service and supporting the operational efficiency of the front-end department.
- Member Assistance: Greet members, help load orders onto the conveyor belt, determine packing preferences, answer questions, provide information on special promotions, and thank members for their patronage.
- Order Packing: Pack member orders into boxes, load them onto separate carts or flatbeds, check packaging for tampering, and assist members in loading orders into their vehicles when appropriate.
- Support for Cashiers: Retrieve items such as merchandise, boxes, register supplies, and item numbers as requested by cashiers to keep lines moving efficiently.
- Area Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness of the register and general front-end areas, promptly clean spills and remove trip hazards, and retrieve carts and flatbeds from the parking area.
- Additional Duties: Perform tasks such as setting up and closing duties for the department, returning products, collecting paperwork, stocking registers, cleaning areas, and operating mechanical trash compactors and cardboard balers.
Minimum Qualifications for the Cashier Assistant
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Education/Training: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Licenses/Certifications: None required.
- Experience: No prior experience necessary.
- Knowledge/Skills: No specific knowledge or skills required; training will be provided.
