In this role, you will provide first aid care, promote health and wellness, and support safety operations within the facility.

As an OMR, you will independently assess and administer first aid to Amazon Associates (AAs) for both occupational and non-occupational injuries or illnesses.

About the Job

In this position, you will be responsible for providing immediate first aid care and coordinating with external medical providers when necessary. You will develop care plans for associates recovering from injuries, focusing on improvement and self-care.

Engaging with associates on the warehouse floor, you will coach them on safe work habits and contribute to a culture of safety and wellness. Additionally, you will participate in incident investigations, maintain medical supply inventory, and may be trained to facilitate first aid, CPR, and AED certification classes.

Key Responsibilities for the Onsite Medical Representative

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide triage and first aid within the scope of your training, referring to external medical providers as needed.
  • Develop care plans for associates recovering from injuries, emphasizing self-care and rehabilitation.
  • Maintain accurate records of all care provided to ensure compliance and continuity.
  • Manage workers’ compensation and return-to-work processes for work-related injuries.
  • Engage with associates on the warehouse floor to coach and promote safe work practices.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly medical environment, ensuring adequate medical supply inventory.
  • Participate in special projects and training sessions, including potentially facilitating first aid and CPR classes.
  • Work flexible shifts, including days, nights, and weekends, as required.

Minimum Qualifications for the Onsite Medical Representative

To excel in this role, you should have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved emergency cardiac care provider.
  • Valid Provincial Primary Care Paramedic Certification from the Ministry of Health or the Canadian Organization of Paramedic Regulators.
  • Current Emergency Medical Technician Basic Certification from the Department of Health or the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT).
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) certification from the Ministry of Health or Provincial College of Nurses.
  • Military Medical Technician experience (e.g., Combat Medic, Field Medic, Healthcare Specialist, Hospital Corpsman, Aerospace Medical Service Technician).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Sciences, Exercise Physiology, Health Sciences, or Kinesiology.

Preferred Qualifications for the Onsite Medical Representative

While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:

  • Certification to teach first aid, CPR, and AED training from recognized organizations such as the American Heart Association or Canadian Red Cross.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with industrial wellness programs and managing musculoskeletal disorders.
  • Knowledge of ergonomics and coaching on body mechanics.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations and workers’ compensation processes.
  • Experience in digital recordkeeping and maintaining compliance documentation.
