About the Job

We are seeking a dedicated Onsite Medical Representative to join our team in Burnaby, BC. In this role, you will work closely with the Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) team to provide first aid care, manage workers’ compensation cases, and engage with employees to promote safe work practices.

Key Responsibilities for the Onsite Medical Representative

Onsite Medical Representative

  • Provide first aid support and make referrals to outside medical providers as necessary.
  • Maintain all records of care provided to associates.Coordinate and maintain workers’ compensation and return-to-work programs for associates with work-related injuries.
  • Engage with associates and leadership on the operations floor to provide coaching regarding observed at-risk work habits.
  • Participate in training and certification to facilitate first aid, CPR, and AED certification classes.
  • Assist with random saliva drug testing protocols.
  • Maintain effective care delivery in emergencies and assist emergency response at the site.

Minimum Qualifications for the Onsite Medical Representative

To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:

  • High school or equivalent diploma.
  • Valid Provincial Primary Care Paramedic Certification from the Ministry of Health Emergency Medical Assistants (EMA) Licensing Board
  • Current valid Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) Certification from the Emergency Medical Assistants (EMA) Licensing Board
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) from the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM), AND have successfully completed the first aid training course or a first aid examination developed or approved by WorkSafe BC
  • In the last year, six months job experience as a Military Medical Technician (Canadian Armed Forces)

Preferred Qualifications for the Onsite Medical Representative

While not mandatory, the following qualifications are advantageous:

  • Experience with workers’ compensation.
  • Certified to teach first aid, CPR, and AED training from Heart and Stroke Foundation or Canadian Red Cross.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with an industrial wellness program.
  • Passion for promoting health and wellness.
  • Experience coaching on body mechanics.
  • Experience managing musculoskeletal disorders.
  • Experience in ergonomics.
  • Knowledge of federal and province-specific regulations.
  • Proficiency in digital recordkeeping.
