About the Job
As an Optical Student at Costco, you will be an integral part of our Optical Department, providing exceptional service to our members. Your primary responsibilities will include guiding members in choosing appropriate eyewear, processing transactions, and assisting in the fitting and adjustment of eyeglasses.
You will also be involved in maintaining the department’s inventory, ensuring that merchandise and supplies are well-stocked and organized. Your attention to detail and commitment to member satisfaction will contribute to the department’s success and your professional growth.
Key Responsibilities for the Optical Student
Your tasks will focus on delivering outstanding member service and supporting the operational efficiency of the Optical Department.
- Member Assistance: Guide members in selecting eyeglass frames and lens options, ensuring they receive personalized and informed service.
- Transaction Processing: Accurately process orders and over-the-counter merchandise, handling payments through cash, cheques, credit, and debit transactions.
- Eyeglass Fitting and Adjustment: Under the supervision of a licensed optician and as permitted by provincial law, assist in fitting and adjusting eyeglasses.
- Inventory Management: Order equipment, merchandise, and supplies by entering data into the system, following safety and security protocols.
- Department Maintenance: Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the department by performing tasks such as cleaning surfaces and emptying trash.
Minimum Qualifications for the Optical Student
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Education/Training: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Licenses/Certifications: Current provincial license required; registration in the applicable college.
- Experience: No prior experience necessary.
- Knowledge/Skills: No specific knowledge or skills required; training will be provided.
