Key Responsibilities for the Software Development Manager
Your responsibilities will include:
- Building and leading high-performing engineering teams, including recruiting, mentoring, and performance management.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including product managers and stakeholders, to deliver product capabilities successfully.
- Setting strategic direction and product roadmaps for the team, balancing product growth and operational health.
- Providing technical leadership, engaging in architecture and design discussions, and resolving complex issues.
- Managing operational support of products at scale, ensuring timely resolution of customer-impacting problems.
Minimum Qualifications for the Software Development Manager
To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related engineering field.
- 7+ years of experience working directly within engineering teams.
- 3+ years of experience in engineering team management.
- 3+ years of experience in designing or architecting systems with a focus on reliability and scaling.
- Experience leading the development of multi-tier web services.
Preferred Qualifications for the Software Development Manager
While not mandatory, the following qualifications are advantageous:
- Experience in robotics or automation.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C++, or Python.
