About the Job
As a Stocker at Costco Wholesale in Edmonton, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the presentation and organization of our warehouse. Working in a fast-paced environment, you will ensure that merchandise is properly stocked and aisles are clear and clean.
Your attention to detail and commitment to quality will enhance the overall shopping experience for our members. Collaboration with team members and adherence to safety and sanitation guidelines are essential aspects of this position.
Key Responsibilities for the Stocker
Your tasks will focus on merchandise stocking, aisle maintenance, and member assistance.
- Merchandising: Follow merchandising standards and practices to align products, collect and return stray items, and maintain high product levels.
- Communication: Coordinate with supervisors and managers to determine merchandising plans and priorities.
- Product Handling: Use box knives to open boxes for display, cut twine or shrink-wrap from pallets, and wrap or tie pallets for return to storage.
- Stocking: Place opened cases on shelves, move and position pallets using manual pallet jacks, and consolidate products from partial pallets.
- Signage: Create computer-generated signs, ensure correct product signage, and mark unmarked products with item numbers using marking tools.
- Display Setup: Assemble display models as necessary and modify displays for safe member handling, such as securing heavy equipment or taping sharp edges.
- Aisle Maintenance: Remove loose cardboard and debris from floors, clear sales floor of empty pallets, operate cardboard balers and trash compactors, and rewrap loose products using shrink-wrap machines.
- Member Service: Provide prompt and courteous service by assisting members with loading large items into carts, directing them to products, and sharing product status knowledge.
Minimum Qualifications for the Stocker
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Education/Training: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Licenses/Certifications: None required.
- Experience: No prior experience necessary.
- Skills: Ability to follow instructions, work independently and as part of a team, and maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand and walk for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
Preferred Qualifications for the Stocker
While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:
- Previous retail or warehouse experience.
- Familiarity with inventory management and stocking procedures.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
